Wow, I am here at the end.
The first thing that l want to do is turn right back around and jump in again.
But wait, if l do that l will not find yet more and more exciting things.
What a dilema.
To look back and revisit, or forge ahead into the unknow.
I choose to forge ahead!!
Time for a quick reflection though.
I am not old [well l don't think l am], yet these tools were not really on the horizon when l was
at primary and secondary school.
How many different ways we could have done our assignment, written our reports, charted out statistics.
Each person had to learn a task from the bottom up.Not now.
Just download a template and get on with the buisness of progress.
I love it.
I like all of the activities, all of the sites l visited.
I still do not know what l will use the Rollyo tool for, but who knows.
At least l have seen it, I know that it is there and most importantly, if any of our library users are looking for something to do that job l can tell them where to find it and how to use it!
I am pleased to have this knowledge and l thank the presenters of this program for the effort they have put in.

Audio books. Downloadable, Takehomable.

What a great resource, what a great site.
I have skipped to this exercise earlier, before actually writing up my posts.
I am zipping through today and doing the actual exercise of writing them up.
A bit cheeky, but when l go into this site l am "lost" for hours.
One thing leads to another, l wonder what a different search term will find and then l am back in the treasure trove lost in all of the items available.
Such a great site. I willbe back here many times in the future.
Podcasts, Smodcasts

I really like Podcasts.
The use of them in this Learning 2.0 exercise has been great.
It is much easier for me to learn and study with these great tools. In the past l have studied on line and found it very "dry" and hard going.
As these new tools are added to theeducators arsinal, there will be no reason for us all not to be engaged in a series of learning exercises for many years to come.
I too, do YouTube
Discovering Web 2.0 tools- Squidoo

I just looked at the winners. Some of the winners had already been explored by me in this Learning 2.0 adventure and so l looked at the ones l had not yet seen.
I like Squidoo.
It goes by the catch cry that everyone is an expert on something, and invites you to make a page on your area of expertise.
I like it!
Zoho Writer- Online Apps

This is a great resource.
Very quick to sign up, very easy to navigate.
So many times l am looking for templates rather than making my own and look in Excel and Word online.
I did not know that this resource was available. I will be a regular visitor to this site.
The document that I used for a practice was just on e of the templates they had, but l will go back and visit that site many times in the future.

Wiki Wiki you are wicked.

If i was to create a Wiki for my library, what would l put in it??
I would put us, the people who work there.
I would list our services, get coments, ideas and thoughts.
I would like titles to have reviews either good or bad, and would want our children and teens to be able to add their comments and redefine our service.

The site that l visited and like best was http://www.oclc.org/nextspace/002/6.htm
To a temporary place in time...
This talked about the past, present and future of libraries, respecting that they contain the memories of societies but at the same time are capable of stepping into the future.
I am not so sure about people contacting Librarians rather than books as this is a very tall order and huge responsibility to place on peoples shoulders. The higher the ratings the more they will be contacted, the higher workload will lead to lower quality of work, leading to less ratings, leading to relaxed pressures, leading to higher quality of work, leading to higher ratings and around and round and round we go.
I like the Library 4.0 concept, libraries as mind gyms, art salons ideas labs.
Mmmmm Del.icio.us
I thought that this was very good.
I liked this resource and think that it will be good for study and work.
As l am about to "rush" through the rest of this program I did not create a Del.icio.us account, just looked around and was impressed,
I will defiantly go back to this and use it for study and work.

ROLLYO, ROLLYO wherefore art thou ROLLYO
Woops, back to #6
When looking back at my staff profile, l see a gap at #6
I did not write up the Flickr Fun/ Flikr masups.
What a good idea. What an absolutely good use of resources.
The ability to use an item for more than one thing has been with us well before the invention of the Swiss Army Knife.

I like the sharing of maps when giving direstions to events. Before we had to rely on the hand drawn "mud maps" that challenged not only your directional skills, but your literacy/translation skills also.

Bloglines I'm yours
http://www.bloglines.com/myblogs
I was not really that excited about Bloglines to tell the truth. I thought it was a good idea, but did not really think it would be so effective. I love it.
Now that l have had time to see the new info just keep on coming l am a convert.

LibraryThing
http://www.librarything.com/addbooks
I'm not that decdicated!
It's nice, good, special and all of those things, but why???
I do not want to take my work home with me.
I am not that decdicated to cataloguing and the whole thing.
I revel in my home book case being not orderly, with things not lined up.
It is becoming clear that l am not a true believer.
My library involvement is based on my Community Development skills and mind set.

To RSS feed or not to RSS feed.
I don't know if i really want this function.
Sure l can see how good it is to get up to date information, but do l want more alerts??
Alerts in Outlook. Alerts on my phone.
Subscriptions to lists to keep current on work things, necessary all users info about OH&S, corporate training, meetings and all that good stuff.
Do I have time or brain space to add more????
I suppose the answer is yes.

Technology

I love technology in all areas of my life. I love automated household chores, my mobile phone, my PC, l love self heating coffee that you can buy in a really weird heavy metal cup in the supermarket [Safeway]. I don't love it because it tastes good, because it tasted foul, l love the idea of it, the immediacy of it and the fact that somebody though that enough people would be interested in this product to mass produce it.
I don't love the though that mixing of a batch of pretty potent chemicals has to happen in the bottom of that can to start the self heating process and it can just be thrown into the rubbish to leak and pollute. There are no instructions for safe disposal on it.
The message: invent and produce technologies to your hearts content, but think about the consequences.

What's old is new and what's new is soon old. There is nothing new under the sun.
The ideas have been there for hundreds of years. The technologies available at that place in time have defined the format.

Its wonderful, fantastic and never ending.
It all comes at a cost.
